A social experiment on the Yokoyama Observatory parking lot (charging fees for the observation deck parking lot and shuttle bus transportation) will be held at the Yokoyama Observatory in Ise-Shima Public Park for two days from Saturday, February 2025th to Sunday, February 2th, 8.

Social experiment overview

Overview of the social experiment

(1. Purpose

Yokoyama Observatory is visited by more than 30 people annually, and in recent years has been facing various issues such as traffic congestion in the surrounding area, congestion in the parking lot, and aging facilities due to the increase in visitors. Therefore, while working to conserve the natural environment, we will carry out a social experiment to solve these issues so that visitors can enjoy the scenery of Ago Bay safely and comfortably, and verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the experiment.

(2) Entry restrictions for the observation deck parking lot

  • Restrictions on entry for general vehicles and taxis to the observation deck parking lot and P2 (for two days, from 2:8 to 30:17)
  • Wheelchair accessible vehicles are allowed: Wheelchair accessible vehicles - Fee: 500 yen per trip (2 days, 8:30-17:00)

(3) Paid shuttle bus service

  • Operating hours: 9:00-17:00 (both days)
  • Operation area: Yokoyama Visitor Center - Observatory parking lot, P2 (approx. 500m)

Payment Method

Payment to the tax collector must be in cash only. *Credit cards and electronic money are not accepted.

*Assistance dogs and pets (please keep them in a cage) are allowed on board.
* Please keep your pet in a cage and have it sit on your lap.
*Please be careful not to let out sounds of your pet's cries, excrement, smells, etc.
*Please refrain from any other behavior that may cause inconvenience to other customers.

(4) Survey on use of walking paths

There are many well-maintained walking paths around Yokoyama Observatory. We will be conducting the following survey regarding their use.

(5) Questionnaire survey

During the experiment, we will be conducting a questionnaire survey of all shuttle bus and promenade users, so we ask for your cooperation.
