The "Sweating Jizo Festival" will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Donoyama Yakushi Nyorai-do in Shima City, Mie Prefecture.
The Jizo statue enshrined within the temple grounds is said to shed white sweat when something good happens and black sweat when something bad happens, and has long been known as the "Sweating Jizo."
On the day, in addition to sutra chanting by monks, local people offer hymns to Reikan Jizo, and the temple is bustling with worshippers as they come to pray for the season.
The Hall of Yakushi Nyorai Hall is home to Buddhist statues with various theories, such as the seated Yakushi Nyorai statue and the Pensive Jizo statue, which you can view while praying.
