Izawanomiya has a special status among the Betsugu (auxiliary shrine) under Naiku (the Inner Shrine) of Ise Jingu Shrine.
As the trunk of the camphor tree resembles a kinchaku (money pouch), it is also known as kinchaku camphor tree which is said to build up savings of those who touches the tree.
Ontauesai festival, taken place at the adjacent shrine’s paddy field on June 24, is famous for being one of the three major rice planting festivals and is designated as a national important intangible cultural heritage.
